Why do you need to study case laws?

Case laws are crucial to understand the interpretation of the law by the courts. In the field of Arbitration, being a rapidly developing field, it is essential to be updated about the position of the law. The law in its text is made by the legislative bodies, however, its application and the validity is the concern of judiciary.


Case law in India plays a critical role in establishing the country’s legal system. The statutes largely provide the skeletal of the law.  When statutory provisions are applied to real-life situations and the Court interprets them, the law becomes more comprehensive and holistic. As a result, case laws are an important aspect of the legal system, and every law student and lawyer must learn to read, comprehend, and use case laws in order to strengthen their arguments and pleadings.
